He Said...
I’ll keep this solely based on facts, if I had a nickel for every blind date I had been on, well, I’d have a nickel!!! If the saying “you never get a second chance to make a first impression” is true, then it's a wonder that I got this far along in my engagement to begin with. For starters, I was late, I had just moved back from Atlanta and the majority of my things had not arrived, so, I put together something to wear and drove(sped) to the restaurant. Once I got there, we were introduced and sat down for dinner. She had the seafood sampler and I had the catfish platter. It wasn’t until later that I found out that she was less than thrilled with my attire. Like I said before the majority of my things still hadn't arrived…just be happy I didn’t show up in some practice shorts, and a sleeveless t-shirt. It wasn’t until our 3rd date that she began to warm up to me, I mean how could she resist after I cooked her my world famous peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a vintage aged lemon-lime Gatorade!!! The poor girl didn’t stand a chance!!
The past 3 years have been very enjoyable with the exception that I traveled about 90% of the time for the first year and a half and only got to see Holly on Saturday's. We’ve developed many of the same thought patterns, mannerisms, and viewpoints; and yet, still maintain our own sense of individuality. I truly have treasured my time with Holly. She is the soothing calm to my sometimes, abrasive, intense, temperamental nature. She is the consummate nurturer and perfect example of what a woman is and should be. I am without equivocation looking forward to spending the rest of my life with her.

She Said...
Well, my story is probably longer than his but I will try to keep this short. =)
Three weeks earlier... My friend Rosezetta and I were headed to Hot Springs (AR) for our best friend Brandi’s birthday party. On the way, Rose was talking to her new "friend" Ced (now her hubby) and I said, "tell Ced to hook me up with one of his friends" – obviously kidding might I add. I laughed it off and thought nothing more of it. Fast forward three weeks and Rose sends me a text message telling me that we should all go to dinner together – we being: her, Ced, and his friend Perry. I rejected quickly but Rose was great at giving mind-changing stats! Man do I wish I had kept that text message!!! Anyway I decided 'why not?' and said "ok". So that evening (knowing how I can be) Rose came to pick me up and we rode to the restaurant together. Our date was at 7:00 but Mr. Perry was not there by then – Ced was – but no Perry. I wasn’t too keen on that one but I gave it a pass. Finally, Perry showed up around 7:15 and supposedly he and Ced had the times mixed up (Perry thought he said 7:30). Well – I thought he was very nice looking but his attire was much to be desired! He obviously wasn’t dressed for a first date in his wrinkled polo and jeans but again, I gave it a pass...
And boy am I glad I did because Perry was a complete gentleman that evening. From pulling chairs to ordering my food, to paying attention to our conversation – the evening was refreshing and fun. Side note, Perry and I were so engaged in conversation that we did not realize that our "match makers" Ced and Rose had left the table for many, many minutes. Oops... After dinner, we all went to a piano bar for drinks and laughter and had a GREAT time. I teased Perry for not having a drink (he’s not a drinker at all) and when he ordered a midori sour just to please me (ok shut me up) I felt special. I even broke one of my biggest rules – I would never let a man take me home but I accepted Perry's invitation to take me home. And he even left the car running while he walked me upstairs to my door. I fought the attraction I had for Perry for several weeks because I was happy being single; but Perry became one of my best friends early on and has been ever since. From the day he asked me to be his girlfriend, to the first time he told me "I love you", to the moment he proposed, Perry has been full of surprises and has proven that he is still paying attention to our conversations.
Perry truly is the love of my life and I am so excited to begin forever with such a special, intelligent, and passionate person. I love you babe.
